As It Was in the Beginning

Marko Djordjevic

spark
A Spark moves toward
The maternal Flame,
A Seed in the pulsating Heat
Of ever glowing Darkness…
Light, then Sound
Light, then Sound
Summoned into Being
Your Nothingness dissolves
In the eternal Fall
Towards the softly shaped Domes
Bereft of Symbols,
Ahead of all Time
The sobering Exit – which is also an Entrance
Puts the Wheels in Motion
On a Road
Which seems to be but a Set up
For the disintegrating
Punch Line
Furnished with an Abundance of
Maps, Books and Sextants
You are told to navigate,
But without Destination Coordinates
Is all Navigation in vain?
A Time Bomb going off comes to Mind,
It, too, follows the Rule:
Light, then Sound
Light, then Sound
As short Distances distort
The Truth
Just as a quick Trip
Masks the true Length of the Road
You fear Death
Yet never stop to think
How much retroactive Fear
Should go into the Prospect of Nonbeing,
As real as it used to be
The Fear of never being born
Never being conceived…
Unbelievably plausible
As it surely was
For Eons and Eons,
Until
Your nothingness dissolved
And you were summoned into Being
In the eternal Fall toward the softly shaped Domes
