Submissions

FUSION Magazine is the literary and multimedia voice of the Berklee Community and an artistic collaboration between Berklee faculty and students.  While FUSION’s primary purpose is to publish student writing and new media, we will also solicit work from faculty, visiting artists, and guests.  FUSION seeks to publish work of the highest quality in all genres:  fiction, poetry, drama, creative nonfiction, and essays on a wide variety of topics, including music.  We will also consider student art and multimedia.

All properly submitted work will be considered for publication in both FUSION Online and in our annual hard copy issue. See submission guidelines for all genres below.

When submitting work, please indicate, in the subject heading of your email, the genre that best describes your submission: Fiction, Poetry, Drama, Creative Nonfiction, Contemporary Issues, Art, Multimedia. Please also include a cover letter with relevant details about yourself (name, title of work, contact information) and a SINGLE MS Word attachment of work submitted, e.g., poems (6 max) should be in ONE document.

We review new submissions several times during the academic year and will respond as soon as possible.

Fiction, Nonfiction, and Drama:

We will consider unsolicited submissions from Berklee students and alumni only.  Berklee faculty, staff, and others who would like to have work considered should first send letter of enquiry via email to determine if we are currently reviewing submissions from others in a particular genre.

Submissions should be typed, double-spaced, with 12-point font, one-inch margins, a title, page numbers, and a word count. Each submission should not exceed 5,000 words. Scenes or chapters of longer work will be considered. The author must send one email attachment in MS Word of each work submitted with name, genre, phone number, and an email address clearly marked on the manuscript.

Poetry:

About Us:

FUSION is Berklee College of Music's global forum of writing, visual art, and music that engages notions of interconnectivity and interdisciplinary approaches to the arts. We publish high-quality literature, journalism, film/video, photography, and multimedia projects by our community as well as internationally recognized artists. We also invite essays on the rich relations between music and the other arts; translations; and works employing fusion as theme, concept, or inspiration. FUSION is a celebration of the arts, responding to E.M. Forster's charge, “Only connect!”
