Submissions

FUSION : a magazine of literature and ideas is the literary voice of the Berklee community and an artistic collaboration between Berklee faculty and students. While FUSION’S primary purpose is to publish student creative and expository writing, we will also include faculty and occasional guest writing. FUSION seeks to publish short works of the highest quality in all genres: fiction, poetry, drama, creative nonfiction, and essays on a wide variety of topics, including music. We will also consider student art.
All properly submitted work will be considered for publication in both the magazine and on the website.
Submission Guidelines:
When submitting work, please indicate, in the subject heading of your email, the genre that best describes your submission: Fiction, Poetry, Drama, Creative Nonfiction, Contemporary Issues, Art. Also, please indicate in your email whether you are a student, faculty member, staff, alumni, etc.
Fiction, Nonfiction, and Drama:
Submissions should be typed, double-spaced, with 12-point font, one-inch margins, a title, page numbers, and a word count. Each submission should not exceed 5,000 words. Scenes or chapters of longer work will be considered. The author must send one email attachment in MS Word of each work submitted with name, genre, phone number, and an email address clearly marked on the manuscript.
Poetry:
Please note: the editorial board will consider unsolicited poetry only from students. Submissions of poetry should also be typed and double-spaced with 12-point font, ideally one poem per page, or two short poems per page at most. Poets should send no more than six (6) poems, in a single MS Word email attachment. The author’s name, genre, phone number, and email address should be clearly marked.
Art and Photography:
Submissions may be sent in hard copy or by email attachment. The artist’s name, phone number, and email address should be clearly marked on the work.
Work not properly submitted will not be considered. Also, FUSION will not consider articles typical of those found in music trade journals. We regret that submissions cannot be returned.
